Volunteering

Older adults have been caring for the less fortunate and contributing to their communities since early human history. 11 million older Americans volunteer, which is about 24% percent of those in the age group over 65. Younger people volunteer at about the same rate but older adults give almost twice the amount of hours as younger volunteers. Volunteering helps build community and supports nonprofits but also helps individuals combat isolation.
